KDottJ

Enjoyed working on this yesterday. All the vocals (except the singing) were recorded and
the track mixed, within one hour!!
It was a bit rushed but the results speak for themselves.

Recording at The Stable

The cost of recording at the studio is £18 per hour.
This includes Jez or Pat to engineer. You can book any times you want, according to availability.

Currently we can offer an INTRODUCTORY recording rate of £7 per hour.
This is geared towards young people in education, and needs to take place during the week (either afternoons or evenings). You can book up to three and a half hours at this rate to enable you to get a basic demo of your work, including mixing and CDs.

Jez has been recording bands at the studio since it opened in 2003, and has recently completed a 4 track EP for Tall Ships, to be released by Big Scary Monsters. He is a professionally qualified Youth Worker, along with being an experienced studio engineer.

Pat is a professional musician and engineer, currently working at BIMM in Brighton. He is passionate about working with upcoming, developing artists. He is currently involved in several live and studio projects, along with his profession of teaching music in further education.

Please try and give us at least a weeks notice for bookings.

NEW REHEARSAL SLOTS

IMPORTANT NEWS:

I have decided to try a new way of booking practise slots in the studio. It may mean that your usual practise time is not available, but I have tried to accommodate regular hirers as much as possible. I have done this to try and keep a balance between younger bands who need more support and supervision, while still keeping some times available for older more experienced bands who can be left alone to practise.
PLEASE BOOK THREE DAYS AHEAD

Tuesday:

3.30-5.30 Supervised practise session

6-8

8-10

Wednesday:

3.30-5.30 Supervised practise

5.30-7.30

7.30-9.30 Supervised practise

Thursday:

3.30 - 5.30 Supervised practise

6-8

8-10

Saturday:

12-2

NOTE: unsupervised practises must include a band member of at least 18 years old, or a parent/responsible adult. Bands must have undertaken a brief training session and have signed the code of conduct. This includes training on new valve amplifiers.

Times they are a changin'

Sad news. The budget of Children's Services is to be cut by 20%. This is a 2 million pound saving for the year starting on April 1st. Youth Centres across West Sussex will have to close. As soon as we have any information on whether this will affect The Beacon Centre or the Stable Studio we will let you know.

TALL SHIPS IN NME

Tall Ships EP is recommended in this weeks' NME. They have put it at number 7 in their tracks of the week. (Only number 7!!!). The track they have chosen is Books (yes that's my favourite too!).

Xmas singing

Christmas is coming (in case you hadn't noticed from all the adverts for perfume on the telly). We had a friendly invasion in the studio from staff and young people from Henfield Youth Club. Debbie Slaughter booked them all in to lay down vocals for their planned Christmas CD. It was great fun as we were all treated to classics such as Santa Baby, Merry Xmas (otherwise known as the Shakin' Stevens one), Winter Wonderland etc, etc.
I was great fun to work with such a large group, although it's difficult to record 20 people singing when you have only 4 sets of headphones! We had the usual mixture of supreme self confidence through to quivering terror at the idea of singing, and a few hysterical giggles thrown in.
I hope you all have a great Xmas and manage to sell a sackload of your CDs on behalf of the Youth Club.
